Walker Buehler, Arizona's Ildemaro Vargas trade words after strikeout
Joe Camporeale-USA TODAY Sports

Walker Buehler and Ildemaro Vargas traded words after a strikeout in the fifth inning of Monday’s game between the Los Angeles Dodgers and Arizona Diamondbacks.

Buehler struck Vargas out looking on a 3-2 fastball at the knees. Vargas seemed to act like he thought it was ball four and a walk, so the Dodgers fireballer appeared to bark at him to “sit the f— down.” Vargas said something back, and the two had an exchange.

Vargas came up later in the eighth and singled, but there was no incident between them.

Buehler got the best of the Diamondbacks in the game. He had his good stuff and struck out 11, allowing just two hits and one run over eight innings for the win. The Dodgers won 3-1.

Buehler got a late start to the season after missing time in spring training. He has looked more like himself since May and is rounding into form with a 6-1 record and 3.69 ERA this season.
