The Los Angeles Dodgers selected the contract of Bobby Miller from Triple-A Oklahoma City and placed Tyler Cyr on the 15-day injured list due to a right shoulder impingement prior to Tuesday’s game against the Atlanta Braves. Cyr’s IL stint was backdated to May 21.

Miller is making his MLB debut in the middle game of the series at Truist Park. The opportunity came about due to Julio Urías landing on the 15-day injured list because of a left hamstring strain.

Miller was held back during Spring Training because of right shoulder soreness and he did not begin throwing bullpen sessions until early March. He only advanced to facing batters by the middle of that month and has made just four starts for Oklahoma City.

The right-hander went 1-1 with a 5.64 ERA and 1.19 WHIP in those outings. He had an encouraging 2023 debut before back-to-back bumpy outings. However, Miller followed those with a strong start his last time out, setting season-highs with six innings pitched and six strikeouts while allowing just one run.

Miller joins Michael Busch and Gavin Stone as top Dodgers prospects to make their respective MLB debut this season.

Dustin May was transferred to the 60-day IL in order to make room for Miller on the Dodgers 40-man roster. The earliest May can be activated is now Monday, July 17.

Tyler Cyr joins list of injured Dodgers pitchers

Cyr joined the Dodgers last week when Andre Jackson was optioned to OKC, and he appeared in back-to-back games against the St. Louis Cardinals. Cyr threw a combined 1.2 innings and allowed just one hit while collecting two strikeouts in those games.

Cyr joins Walker Buehler, J.P. Feyereisen, Michael Grove, Daniel Hudson, May, Jimmy Nelson, Ryan Pepiot, Alex Reyes, Blake Treinen and Julio Urías as Dodgers pitchers on the injured list.
