Brandon Marsh was one of two players the Los Angeles Angels sent over to the Philadelphia Phillies at the trade deadline a little over a month ago, along with pitcher Noah Syndergaard.
Marsh had been struggling with the Halos this season, similarly to the team itself.
Before the trade that sent him to the Phillies, he was hitting just .226 in 93 games with a .637 OPS, 80 OPS+, and a 36.2 strikeout percentage.
In the 25 games since the Phillies acquired him, Marsh is hitting .300 with a .792 OPS, 119 OPS+, and a 29.2 strikeout percentage.
The Phillies appear to have fixed Marsh at the plate, and he has proven to be a big acquisition.
Interesting side-by-side:
Marsh stats w/ LAA (93 games): .226 BA/.637 OPS/80 OPS+, 36.2 strikeout percentage.
Marsh with Phillies (25 games): .300 BA/.792 OPS, 119 OPS+, 29.2 strikeout percentage.
It's a wide gap in productivity thus far. Split screen below shows changes. https://t.co/D047XESdn0

The splits are shocking here.
The side-by-side comparison is quite shocking too.
In that at-bat with the Angels, he looked completely lost.
He swung right through that pitch and didn’t look very comfortable in the box.
In the subsequent at-bat with the Phillies, his stance is wider, and he looks much more comfortable and relaxed in the box.
He takes a nice, relaxed cut and puts the ball in play.
It might just be the root of the Angels’ inabilities this season.
The Phillies do seem to have found the flaw in his swing and his stance and fixed it.
By just looking at the splits, you can see very clearly that something just wasn’t right while he was with the Angels.
But it’s clear that the Phillies found the issue and corrected it, making this a worthwhile pickup.
The Phillies and Angels are obviously trending in opposite directions, and Marsh is now part of the Phillies’ upswing.
The sample size in Philadelphia is small, but the numbers are quite telling.
