The Braves have optioned OF Travis Demeritte to AAA Gwinnett and have called up top prospect Michael Harris II directly from AA Mississippi to the Major Leagues.

Harris has all of the tools to be a superstar in this league — there’s a reason he skipped AAA. His blazing speed on the field matches his incredible bat speed, and he’s a phenomenal defender in center field. I wouldn’t expect a ton of power from Harris early, but if he can provide it, I’ll take it. I didn’t expect a direct jump to the majors, but it’s clear he had nothing left to prove in AA:
Michael Harris II (AA): .305/.372/.506/.878, 16 2B, 2 3B, 5 HR, 11 SB

I imagine Brian Snitker will bat Harris 9th so he can hit “in front of” Ronald Acuña Jr. — Harris has the makeup of an elite leadoff hitter who can consistently get on base and get steals.

Welcome to the show, kid. And good luck.
