Slick-Fielding Infielder Drawing Interest From Three Teams, Including New York Yankees and Mets

Urshela is an eight-year major league veteran who has played with the Cleveland Indians, Toronto Blue Jays, Yankees, Minnesota Twins and Angels. Known more for his glove than his bat, he did have a nice run with the Yankees from 2019-2021. He smacked 34 doubles in 2019 and popped 21 homers that same year. Despite his glove-first reputation, he's turned himself into a solid hitter, as he's .277 lifetime at the plate.

At this point, it really depends on what Urshela wants in his career. Does he value a chance to play every day? Does he value money? Does he value best chance to win?

With the Marlins, he'd likely be able to earn a starting spot, and possibly at shortstop. The team lost Joey Wendle in free agency and is looking for an everyday option there. With the Yankees, he'd certainly be a backup, but one that could still find himself playing time. The team has Anthony Volpe and Gleyber Torres up the middle. They are a little less settled at third base.

As for the Mets, they have Francisco Lindor implanted at shortstop but also feature some availability at other infield positions. They keep waiting for former top prospect Bret Baty to take off at third, but it hasn't happened yet.
