Seattle Mariners' Players Offer Heartfelt Messages After Geno Suarez Trade
USA TODAY Sports

The Seattle Mariners stunned their fanbase, and the baseball world, this week by trading third baseman Eugenio Suarez to the Arizona Diamondbacks.

The trade leaves the M's with a hole at third base and a 25-30 home run hole in their lineup. It also absolutely infuriated Mariners fans.

After the trade was made official, multiple M's players took to social media to express their gratitude to Suarez.

Per relief pitcher Tayler Saucedo:

"For my short time with Geno. He showed me what a true teammate weas. Anytime I struggled he'd ask if I wanted him to line up differently or just a simple "keep going." He made me feel like I had a place in that clubhouse. It was an honor sharing a uniform with him. Thank you Geno."

M's superstar and 2022 Rookie of the Year winner Julio Rodriguez offered a message in Spanish that said:

"Gracias por todo Geno, me vas a hacer falta."

That roughly translates to "Thank you for everything Geno. I'm going to miss you."

M's fans certainly echo that sentiment as Suarez was responsible for keeping the clubhouse loose and bringing the "good vibes only."

Suarez hit .232 this past year with 22 homers and 96 RBI. The M's have now lost him and Teoscar Hernandez, the top two-RBI hitters in their lineup.

Lifetime, he's a .248 hitter with 246 homers. He made his major league debut in 2014 with the Tigers and then starred with the Reds from 2015-2021.

The Mariners missed the playoffs by 1.0 game this past season.
