Seattle Mariners' Legend Serves as Special Photographer at Seoul Series

As the 2024 Major League Baseball season kicked off in South Korea on Wednesday morning, Seattle Mariners legend Ken Griffey Jr. was there in attendance, serving as a special photographer.

Since retiring, Griffey has taken up the hobby, and regularly serves as a photographer at games. Just this last NFL season, he was a camera person for a game between the Dallas Cowboys and Arizona Cardinals. He also worked at Game 5 of the World Series between the Texas Rangers and Arizona Diamondbacks, which ended up being the clinching game for Texas in 2023.

He's not the only Hall of Famer who is big into photography: Former Mariners teammate Randy Johnson is also big into the hobby. In addition to being a photographer, Griffey does work for the Mariners and for Major League Baseball itself.

One of the best players in baseball history, Griffey spent 22 years in the big leagues with the Mariners, Reds and White Sox. One of the most popular players to ever play the game, he hit 630 career home runs. He was a 13-time All-Star, a 10-time Gold Glover, a seven-time Silver Slugger and a former MVP.

He was a lifetime .284 hitter, who graced the covers of video games, magazines and starred in movies like "Little Big League."

Though he never made the World Series, he was a dominant playoff performer, hitting .290 in 18 career games in October. He had six home runs in those games.
