San Francisco Giants Sign Jorge Soler to Three-Year Deal
Jim Rassol-USA TODAY Sports

The San Francisco Giants have reportedly signed outfielder and designated hitter Jorge Soler to a three-year contract worth $42 million. While the Giants have not officially announced the deal, it has been reported by several inside sources including Jeff Passan and Jon Heyman. Soler was one of the most sought-after free agents for MLB teams this off-season and chose not to re-sign with the Miami Marlins.

The Toronto Blue Jays were reportedly interested in bringing him in, but they were unable to beat out the Giants. The Giants also signed Korean star outfielder Jung Hoo Lee to a six-year, $113 million deal in December. It seems as though the Giants are prepared to go all-in this season, and may not be done in free agency just yet.

Soler stands 6-foot-4, 235 pounds, and is coming off of a solid season where he hit 36 home runs and added 75 runs batted in with a .250 batting average through 504 at-bats, and also had one stolen base. He has spent time with the Marlins, Chicago Cubs, Atlanta Braves, and Kansas City Royals before joining the Giants.

Soler Is A Good Addition for The Giants

Throughout his career, Soler has posted a .243 batting average with 170 home runs, 452 runs batted in, and 11 stolen bases through 3030 at-bats. He adds depth to a team that will likely be looking to go all-in and make a push for a World Series win.

There are still several big-name free agents on the board who could have a massive impact on whichever team they choose to sign with. Matt Chapman, Cody Bellinger, Blake Snell, and J.D. Martinez are just a few of the players that a few teams will be looking to add to their roster in hopes of building a championship-caliber team.
