Reynaldo Lopez Expects to Return to White Sox Tuesday vs. Royals

It sounds like Reynaldo Lopez will be back in the Chicago White Sox bullpen in the very near future. The hard-throwing righty felt good after throwing live batting practice Saturday and expects to rejoin the team Tuesday.

Reynaldo López threw 21 pitches in a simulated inning today and said he’s ready for the Kansas City series next week. His chiropractor gave him a set of exercises to do on his own and he credits them for alleviating his back pain.

Lopez has been on the injured list since July 25 due to a lower back strain. He last appeared in a White Sox game on July 23.

The 28-year-old has become one of the most reliable high-leverage arms out of the Sox bullpen this season. In 42.1 innings, Lopez has a 2.98 ERA, 1.67 FIP, and 44 strikeouts with only eight walks allowed. Additionally, he has not surrendered a home run all year.

Getting Reynaldo Lopez back in the mix will only bolster a Chicago White Sox bullpen that is currently on a hot stretch. The South Siders’ relief corps has produced 17 consecutive scoreless innings over the last six games. Given the Sox’s offensive struggles in 2022, they’ll need the bullpen to continue their shutdown ways.
