Restraining-order hearing for Dodgers' Trevor Bauer pushed back again

Last Friday, the civil hearing for the temporary restraining order against Los Angeles Dodgers ace and reigning National League Cy Young Award winner Trevor Bauer was pushed back to this coming Monday after attorneys representing the 30-year-old and a woman who said Bauer sexually assaulted her mutually agreed to delay proceedings.

ESPN's Alden Gonzalez reported Wednesday, however, that the hearing has been rescheduled to Aug. 16-19 after Bauer's team requested a continuance. Gonzalez added this additional delay gives Bauer's side time to prepare for cross-examining witnesses and may also allow the City of Pasadena Police Department to complete its criminal investigation.

Bauer has repeatedly denied any wrongdoing and said sexual encounters with the reported victim were "wholly consensual."

Bauer was first placed on paid administrative leave by MLB on July 2. That leave was recently extended a third time through Aug. 6 with cooperation from the MLB Players Association and will likely continue until at least the league and Pasadena police complete their separate investigations.

It's unclear if the Dodgers would welcome Bauer back this season if he becomes eligible to play, but Mike DiGiovanna of the Los Angeles Times has reported Los Angeles players don't want the starter back in the clubhouse "under any circumstances."
