Reports: Mets acquire LHP Brooks Raley from Rays
Nathan Ray Seebeck-USA TODAY Sports

The New York Mets acquired left-hander Brooks Raley from the Tampa Bay Rays on Wednesday in exchange for a minor league pitcher, multiple outlets reported.

Raley, 34, went 1-2 with six saves and a 2.68 ERA in 60 relief appearances in a career-best season in 2022, his only year with the Rays. He signed a two-year, $10 million contract with Tampa in November 2021.

Raley owns a 4-8 record with nine saves and a 4.64 ERA in 153 career appearances (five starts) with the Chicago Cubs (2012-13), Cincinnati Reds (2020), Houston Astros (2020-21) and Rays. He also spent five years pitching for the Lotte Giants in the Korean Baseball Organization.

The Mets are sending LHP Keyshawn Askew, 22, to the Rays. A Round 10 pick in the 2021 draft out of Clemson, Askew went 5-0 with a 2.44 ERA in 18 games (eight starts) overall at Single A St. Lucie and High A Brooklyn this past season.
