Report: Nationals signing RHP Trevor Williams
Robert Edwards-USA TODAY Sports

The Washington Nationals and right-hander Trevor Williams agreed to a two-year, $13 million deal, multiple outlets reported Friday.

The 30-year-old free agent made 30 appearances (nine starts) with the New York Mets in 2022, finishing 3-5 with one save and a 3.21 ERA. He struck out 84 batters in 89 2/3 innings.

Williams could wind up as the No. 5 starter or a long reliever with the Nationals.

He is 38-44 with a 4.27 ERA in 159 games (118 starts) with the Pittsburgh Pirates (2016-20), Chicago Cubs (2021) and Mets (2021-22).
