Margaret Kispert/The Register / USA TODAY NETWORK

The New York Mets acquired reliever Vinny Nittoli from the Chicago Cubs on Friday, MLB.com reported.

The return for the 32-year-old right-hander is not yet known.

Nittoli has spent this season with Triple-A Iowa, going 1-1 with a 3.48 ERA and 22 strikeouts in 16 games.

He opted out of his minor league deal with the Cubs on Thursday.

He has appeared in just three major league games, two with the Philadelphia Phillies in 2022 and one with the Seattle Mariners in 2021.

Nittoli is 17-19 with a 4.37 ERA and 12 saves in 176 appearances (14 starts) in the minors since 2014.
