Report: Diamondbacks designate former Cy Young winner Dallas Keuchel for assignment

Former Cy Young winner Dallas Keuchel will reportedly hit the open market for the second time this season.

According to ESPN's Jeff Passan, the Arizona Diamondbacks have designated Keuchel for assignment. The Diamondbacks signed Keuchel on June 7, a week after being released by the Chicago White Sox.

Keuchel compiled a 0-2 record with a 9.64 ERA in four starts with the Diamondbacks. In his most recent start against the San Francisco Giants on July 12, Keuchel lasted just 2.1 innings, allowing seven earned runs off eight hits.

With the White Sox earlier this season, Keuchel went 2-5 with a 7.88 ERA over eight starts.

The Houston Astros drafted Keuchel with a seventh-round pick in 2009. Over seven seasons with the Astros, Keuchel was a two-time All-Star and won the Cy Young in 2015.

Keuchel left the Astros in 2019, signing a free-agent deal with the Atlanta Braves. After spending 2019 in Atlanta, Keuchel signed with the White Sox in 2020 until being released this season.

Over 11 major league seasons, Keuchel has a 101-89 record with a 3.52 ERA.
