Reds First Rounder Rhett Lowder Tops Prospects in One Particular Category

Major League Baseball's first Spring Breakout starts on Thursday. Reds first round pick Rhett Lowder is a big part of the weekend. Cincinnati took him with the seventh pick in the 2023 MLB Draft.

Lowder holds many high-level traits and one of them got recognized by the MLB Pipeline.

He was listed under best control which completely makes sense. He was considered the most polished pitcher in last year's draft. He has command of his pitches and that’s a huge green light for pitching coaches across the league. Many believe Lowder could be a pitcher for the Reds as early as 2024 despite getting his first action in spring training this year. The former Wake Forest pitcher posted a 1.87 ERA and 143 strikeouts. To learn more about Lowder click here.

MLB Pipeline also named pitchers with the best fastball, curveball, slider and changeup.

You could make the case that Lowder was snubbed from the "best changeup" category. He's known for his disgusting breaking ball, but Padres prospect Dylan Lesko got the nod instead.
