Positive injury updates on Sean Murphy and Ozzie Albies

The Braves are without three All-Stars right now, but positive updates came to light on all three of them over the weekend.

Spencer Strider may be out for the entire season, but they are expecting a quicker recovery after undergoing internal brace surgery rather than the much more common Tommy John surgery. The cause of Strider’s torn UCL was also revealed. Many people simply want to blame velocity acting as a ticking time bomb, but it was actually a bone fragment that disrupted his UCL, ultimately leading to the ligament tearing. It will still be a lengthy recovery for Strider, but it’s encouraging to know why the injury took place in the first place.

Ozzie Albies is also progressing nicely after fracturing his right big toe last week. He’s already walking without a boot and doing some on-field activities. It sounds like he may only be a week or so away from making his return. Murphy’s activities are progressing forward as well, as he’s begun to throw. He’s yet to start swinging, and as I’ve said, oblique injuries are tricky. The last thing the Braves want to do is rush him back early, so Murphy is probably still a few weeks away, but it’s progress nonetheless.
