Police investigating alleged sex act during Mariners vs. Athletics game

The Oakland Athletics defeated the Seattle Mariners 5-3 in Sunday's game held at RingCentral Coliseum, but it appears the day's most memorable event may have had nothing to do with the action on the field.

According to TMZ Sports, police have confirmed they're investigating allegations that a couple engaged in a sex act in the stands during the game. A person at the venue shared a video of the supposed act on social media, and that clip had been viewed nearly two million times as of Monday afternoon.

"The Oakland Police Department was not alerted to this until after the game, and we have initiated an investigation," an Oakland Police Department spokesperson said in a statement shared by TMZ.

If the couple is ultimately charged and convicted, they could receive up to six months in jail and/or a fine of up to $1,000.

The victory improved Oakland to an awful 45-77, and the Athletics began Monday holding the worst record in the entire American League and with the second-worst record in all of MLB ahead of only the Washington Nationals (41-82). According to Scott Polacek of Bleacher Report, an announced 9,314 fans attended Sunday's game.

Per ESPN, Oakland is dead last in the league in attendance and averaging 9,576 spectators per contest.
