Padres Free Agent Infielder Signs With NPB Team in Japan
USA TODAY Sports

The one-year San Diego Padre infielder is on the move.

Former Padres infielder Rougned Odor will take his talents to Japan's Nippon Professional Baseball. According to Yakyu Cosmopolitan, Odor has signed a one-year contract with the NPB's Yomiuri Giants.

In his lone season with the Friars, Odor slashed .203/.299/.355 with a .654 OPS, a career-low four home runs, 18 RBIs, 28 hits, and 21 runs in 138 ABs over 59 games.

After those poor numbers, Odor was designated for assignment in mid-July. A couple of days later, he cleared waivers and elected free agency.

His time in San Diego was short, but he did okay for the role that he was in. Before his time in San Diego, he spent seven seasons with the Texas Rangers from 2014 to 2020.

He also spent time with the New York Yankees in 2021, and the Baltimore Orioles in 2022. Odor has a career .230 batting average, 178 home runs, 930 hits, 541 runs and 568 RBIs.

This will be the first time Odor will play overseas in his career, and we wish him the best in his next journey. Go and kill it, Odor!
