Orlando Arcia exits game with injury

The Braves haven’t been lucky when it comes to injuries. Max Fried, Kyle Wright , Michael Harris, Travis d’Arnaud, Raisel Iglesias, and Collin McHugh have already spent some time on the IL, and we aren’t even two weeks into the season. That’s difficult to overcome, even though the Braves have done a pretty good job of it so far, and they could add another name to the list after tonight.

In Orlando Arcia‘s first at-bat of the game, he was struck with a 98 MPH fastball in about the worst place possible.

Arcia initially shook it off and stayed in the game to run the bases, but that’s the type of injury that can swell up quickly. It did, and he was later removed before his next at-bat in favor of Ehire Adrianza.

To this point, all the Braves have said is that he left the game and his wrist is being evaluated. We will update you as more information is revealed. But knowing the Braves luck so far this season, an IL stint is likely in his future.

Hopefully, Arcia can avoid anything serious. He’s been playing some of the best baseball of anybody on the team so far this season, proving the organization correct in their decision to start him at shortstop. However, if he does have to miss some time, it does mean we will likely see Vaughn Grissom in the near future, who is the future at the position and has been tearing the cover off the ball in AAA.
