One-Time Padres Veteran Continuing Baseball Career in Mexico

The 41-year-old was an eight-time All-Star and five-time Silver Slugger, who came up with the New York Yankees. He won a World Series title with them in 2009.

Cano signed a mega-deal with the Seattle Mariners ahead of the 2014 season and halfway through the contract was dealt back to New York — this time to the Mets.

In 2018, Cano was suspended 80 games for violating the league's performance-enhancing drug policy and never returned to his prime form. He was suspended again in 2021 after testing positive for Stanozolol. He missed the entire season.

In 2022, Cano batted .195 over 12 games and was cut in May. 

Cano appeared in 12 games with the Padres the year before he was traded to the Atlanta Braves for cash, where he saw action in nine games before being designated for assignment and eventually released.

Cano hasn't played in the big leagues since but played for the Dominican Republic’s World Baseball Classic squad. More recently he was announced as a part-owner of Baseball United, Dubai's professional baseball league. He has also played winter ball in his home country for the past two years.
