New York Yankees on Pace to Do Something They've Rarely Done in Last Quarter Century of Baseball History

While winning six games in a row is certainly tough, it's that kind of two-steps forward and two-steps back nature that has led the Yankees to their perfectly average 70-70 record through 140 games.

With 22 games left to play, there are still chances for the Yanks' to pull a six-game win streak, but the clock is dwindling on their regular season. The Yankees are 7.0 games back of the third and final wild card spot in the American League and their playoff odds sit at 0.5 percent (per Fangraphs).

In the loss on Thursday, Carlos Rodon, who was signed to a massive six-year deal in the offseason, went just 3.2 innings. He allowed seven earned runs and now has a 6.60 ERA. He's 2-5 and has thrown just 46.1 innings this year because of multiple injuries.

The Yankees will begin a new series on Friday night with the National League Central-leading Milwaukee Brewers.

First pitch from Yankee Stadium is set for 7:05 p.m. ET as Colin Rea (MIL) pitches against embattled righty Luis Severino (NYY).

Rea is 5-5 with a 5.07 ERA while Severino is 4-8 with a 6.75 ERA.
