That, my friends, is how you bounce back from a rough start to the week. After an 0-3 mark on Monday, we evened up the count with a 3-0 record Tuesday to get back to .500 for the week. Let's keep the momentum rolling with my three favorite strikeout props for Wednesday's MLB slate.
Johan Oviedo has been a boom-or-bust starter in terms of strikeouts this season. The Pittsburgh Pirates' right-hander has two starts with double-digit strikeouts and two starts with just one K. We're hoping for a bust performance Wednesday against the San Diego Padres, who have recorded the fifth-fewest strikeouts against right-handers this year and the second-fewest strikeouts per game since the All-Star break.
Right-handed pitchers have been auto-fades against the Atlanta Braves this season. The Braves rank No. 1 in MLB in slugging and OPS against righties, and they've recorded just 8.5 strikeouts per game since the All-Star break. Brayan Bello has struggled recently with 11 earned runs and only 11 strikeouts over his last three starts, and I can't see him turning it around against the best lineup in baseball. Take the under.
Let's stick with the same game for our third and final pick. Spencer Strider has been the No. 1 strikeout artist in MLB this season, as he's leading the league in Ks per nine innings by a wide margin (14.58). The star right-hander has also cleared this number in six straight starts, so I'm not sure why we're getting plus money here. Don't ask questions. Just take the over.
