MLB best bets: Strikeout props for Monday 7/17

It's a new week for strikeout props in MLB, so let's start it off strong with our three favorite bets for Monday night's slate.

Logan Webb over 5.5 Ks (-146 FanDuel)

Logan Webb seems to be finding his stride right now. The San Francisco Giants starter has racked up 21 strikeouts in his last two starts, and he recorded a complete game shutout against the Colorado Rockies in his last appearance. The Cincinnati Reds limped out of the All-Star break by getting swept by the Milwaukee Brewers and scoring just three total runs in the three-game series. The Reds struck out a whopping 37 times over those three games, and I think their struggles will continue against Webb Monday night.

Shane McClanahan under 5.5 Ks (-120 FD)

Shane McClanahan has been in a strikeout funk lately, and these odds don't reflect that. The lefty has gone under this number in five straight starts. He hasn't finished the fourth inning in two straight appearances, and he notched a season-low one strikeout against the Seattle Mariners his last time out. The Texas Rangers have recorded the second-fewest strikeouts per game in MLB over the last two weeks (6.2), and they have the second-highest OPS against lefties this season (.893). Take the under 5.5.

Sonny Gray under 5.5 Ks (+115 DraftKings)

This is an odd number and price when you consider Sonny Gray's recent form. The right-hander has gone under 5.5 Ks in seven of his last eight starts, and he's reached the seventh inning only twice in that span. The Seattle Mariners have struggled against righties for much of the season, but this number is still a tick high. Let's take a shot at the under at plus money.
