Minnesota Twins Roster Moves 4/13

The Minnesota Twins are 4-7 on the year after dropping the first game of the three-game set with the divisional rival Detroit Tigers Friday night. After this weekend’s series, the Twins will face off against the talented Baltimore Orioles for three games to kick off the new week. Today they announced several roster moves as they moved people up, done, and one to the injured list.

SS – Carlos Correa

The Twins placed Carlos Correa on the 10-day injured list with a right oblique strain. He’s off to a hot start this year with one home run, four RBIs, and hitting .306 for an average to start the new season. Hopefully, this can heal and be a nonfactor for Correa moving forward. He had stated he had felt the best he’s felt heading into a new season. The Twins need his bat and defense in order to compete in the Central.

RHP – Michael Tonkin

The Twins have designated Tonkin for assignment. He had pitched in four games working six innings. He has a 6.00 ERA, a 1.83 WHIP, gave up eight hits, four earned runs, three walks, and eight strikeouts.

RHP – Simeon Woods Richardson

Richardson was recalled from the St. Paul Saints today by the Twins. He’s already pitched in one game for the Twins this year going 4.2 innings and earning a 9.64 ERA in his first stay with the Twins this year.

C – Jair Camargo

Camargo was recalled from the St. Paul Saints by the Twins. He has played in 11 games for far for the Saints. He has two doubles, two home runs, and seven RBIs.

RHP – Matt Bowman

The Twins selected the contract of Matt Bowman from the St. Paul Saints. Bowman has pitched in five games for the Saints. He has worked six innings, giving up three hits, two walks, seven strikeouts, a 0.00 ERA, and a 0.83 WHIP on the year.

Wrap Up:

The Twins are already without Royce Lewis, having Correa go down for any length of time will hurt their chances to compete for the AL Central. Bowman has pitched well in the minors so hopefully he can continue to perform well and give a needed boost to the bullpen as we head into the fourth weeks of the season.
