Mets request permission for interview with Red Sox executive Raquel Ferreira

The search continues for the New York Mets as they look to build a new front office structure. 

According to Andy Martino of SNY, the Mets have requested permission to speak with Boston Red Sox executive vice president and assistant general manager Raquel Ferreira, presumably about the team's openings at general manager and president of baseball operations. New York also wishes to talk to Minnesota Twins assistant general manager Daniel Adler and Los Angeles Dodgers assistant general manager Jeff Kingston, although Martino adds Kingston is staying with the Dodgers. 

According to a piece published by The Undefeated in 2019, Ferreira first began working with the Red Sox in 1999 and went from holding an administrative assistant role to becoming an executive. Michael Mayer of Metsmerized Online notes that "numerous people in baseball reached out to say she would be a great hire for the Mets." 

Former Red Sox and Chicago Cubs executive Theo Epstein promoted Ferreira twice during his tenure in Boston. Epstein and Mets owner Steve Cohen reportedly decided the team's president of baseball operations job "was not the right opportunity" at this time. 

Milwaukee Brewers president of baseball operations David Stearns and general manager Matt Arnold, St. Louis Cardinals vice president and general manager Michael Girsch, Oakland Athletics executive vice president Billy Beane, Toronto Blue Jays president Mark Shapiro, former San Francisco Giants general manager and executive vice president of baseball operations Brian Sabean, current Giants general manager Scott Harris, and Dodgers assistant general manager Brandon Gomes are among the many other individuals previously linked with the Mets who won't be joining the organization, for one reason or another, this fall or winter.
