Mets-Nats suspended; split doubleheader set for Sunday
Brad Mills-USA TODAY Sports

After a delay of nearly four hours in the third inning, Saturday's game between the New York Mets and host Washington Nationals was suspended and will resume Sunday.

The Nationals lead 1-0.

A rain delay began in the top of the third inning. There was one out and the Mets had runners at second and third.

The game will resume at 12:35 p.m. ET Sunday as part of a split-admission doubleheader. A regularly scheduled game will be pushed back to the late afternoon.

Trevor Williams worked 2 1/3 innings as Washington's starter, allowing two hits without a walk. He struck out one.

For the second consecutive day, the scoring began with an RBI single from Washington's Joey Meneses in the first inning. Lane Thomas, who singled to lead off the frame and moved to second base on Luis Garcia's sacrifice bunt, scored the run.

The Nationals went on to load the bases, with Keibert Ruiz doubling and Alex Call walking. The threat ended when Dominic Smith grounded into a double play.

Mets starter Joey Lucchesi gave up four hits and a walk in the two innings.
