Journeyman Outfielder Leaves Triple-A Team, Signs With AL East Team

Zimmer joined the Dodgers as a non-roster invitee for spring training, and struggled in the Cactus League. In his 32 at-bats, he had two doubles, zero RBIs, six walks and 19 strikeouts.

During his time in Triple-A with the Oklahoma City Dodgers this year, Zimmer struggled, too, posting a slash line of .219/.322/.343 along with three home runs and 14 RBIs.

With the emergence of outfielders Pages and DeLuca, the Dodgers simply didn't have a spot for Zimmer on their roster. So he was granted the opportunity to explore other options and ultimately found a new home with the Red Sox on a minor league contract.

Zimmer now sets his sights on Boston, hoping to prove himself and earn a promotion back to the major leagues. Throughout his career with Cleveland from 2017 to 2022, Zimmer had his ups and downs, hitting .213/.298/.333 with 21 home runs and 91 RBIs in 372 games.

Although he hasn't quite lived up to the lofty expectations that came with being a former first-round pick, Zimmer is determined to make a significant impact in Boston. We'll see if he's able to make Boston his new long-term home.
