Former Seattle Mariners' 3B Issues Goodbye Post to Organization After Trade
USA TODAY Sports

After being traded to the Arizona Diamondbacks this week, former Seattle Mariners' third baseman Eugenio Suarez issued an emotional goodbye to the organization and its fans.

Per Suarez on Instagram:

Seattle.... @Mariners:

Well, my chapter with the Seattle Mariners has ended and I cannot be more grateful, first of all, to GOD because his will every day takes me to the right place and time to do my best...I also thank everyone from office, to the staff, my teammates, each played an important role in my improvement... and of course thanks to the fans who received me in a great way every day, my applause for you...thank you Seattle, we will continue to see other on the road.

Now I will bring to good vibes only in the desert with my new team, Arizona Diamondbacks. I can't wait for the 2024 show, @Dbacks.

Suarez hit .232 this past year with 22 homers and 96 RBI. The M's have now lost him and Teoscar Hernandez, the top two-RBI hitters in their lineup.

Lifetime, he's a .248 hitter with 246 homers. He made his major league debut in 2014 with the Tigers and then starred with the Reds from 2015-2021. He was acquired alongside Jesse Winker from the Reds prior to the 2022 season.

He helped the Mariners break the longest playoff drought in North American professional sports by reaching the playoffs in that season. They had not made the playoffs since 2001 prior.

The Mariners went 88-74 in 2023 and missed the playoffs by 1.0 game.
