Ex-White Sox Infielder Danny Mendick Signs With New York Mets

Former Chicago White Sox utility infielder Danny Mendick is reportedly heading to New York. After being non-tendered by the Soxin November, Mendick is now a member of the Mets. According to ESPN's Jeff Passan, the deal is for one year at $1 million.

Mendick has spent the past four seasons in an up-and-down utility role for the White Sox. Bouncing between Triple-A Charlotte and the big league club, Mendick only appeared in 151 games with the White Sox over those four seasons.

While it was a rather small sample size, Mendick showed some serious flashes in 2022, slashing .289/.343/.443 in 31 games. Unfortunately, his season was cut short after a collision with Adam Haseley ended his season on June 22.

Danny Mendick's contract with the Mets is a big-league deal, so he will likely serve as their utility guy this upcoming season.
