Eduardo Rodriguez is getting close to throwing off a mound

Currently on the IL due to a left lat straight, Diamondbacks’ Eduardo Rodriguez is making progress towards being able to join the rotation.

Rodriguez commenced his throwing program on March 27th, starting at a distance of 60 feet.

On March 28th, manager Torey Lovullo expressed optimism, describing Rodriguez’s progress as “very, very encouraging.”

Additionally, Lovullo mentioned that Rodriguez should be ready to begin throwing off a mound within the next week.

Barring any setbacks during his throwing regimen, there seems to be no obstacle preventing the 30-year-old lefty from pitching off the mound in a practice-like setting at the start of April.

When fully healthy, the Diamondbacks’ rotation has emerged as one of the premier rotations in the National League, featuring talents such as Zac Gallen, Merrill Kelly, Jordan Montgomery, Eduardo Rodriguez, and Brandon Pfaadt.

The D-backs have started this season on a high note, with back-to-back commanding wins over the Colorado Rockies, led by an explosive offense and solid starting pitching performances.
