Drew Rucinski made his second rehab outing with the Las Vegas Aviators on Tuesday night as he works his way back from a left hamstring injury that had him start the season on the IL.

After working a three up, three down bottom of the first, Rucinski ran into some trouble in the second. He started the frame with a walk to Bligh Madris, then a throwing error by Nick Allen put runners at second and third. Rucinski walked Joe Perez to load the bases before Ross Adolph hit a two-run double to center.

The rest of the inning: walk, single, fly out, hit by pitch, single, single, sac fly, strikeout.

Rucinski started the third inning and got two quick outs before being lifted for Norge Ruiz. His final line: 2.2 IP, 4 hits, 7 runs, 5 ER, 3 BB, 2 K. He threw 62 pitches, 35 for strikes.

Per Baseball Savant, it looks like he was trying to get a pretty even workload for his slider, four-seam, sinker, and changeup. The usage on all four pitches was between 19-29%. He also threw two curveballs.

Given the workload in this start, one more start, potentially later this week, could be all that Rucinski needs before getting the call up to Oakland. The A's have been adding pitches to their rehabbing starters in 15 pitch increments, so somewhere between 75-80 pitches are probably on deck for Rucinski when he takes the mound next.

Note:

A's number four prospect Jordan Díaz was removed from the game in the top of the second inning, and Martín Gallegos is reporting that he is getting called up to Oakland. Díaz was batting ninth and serving as the team's DH.

No corresponding move has been announced.
