Dodgers Star Told Cubs' Swanson About Prospect
Kirby Lee-USA TODAY Sports

As the season approaches for the Chicago Cubs, the offseason looks all but over for this club.

There were still rumors about them looking to add in free agency, and while that's always a possibility, losing out on Blake Snell likely makes them done.

Cody Bellinger and Shota Imanaga were the two big names of the offseason. The Cubs knew they needed help on the mound and re-signed the best hitter they had on the roster last year.

However, there's a move from this winter that isn't getting enough attention.

While Michael Busch hasn't found his stride in the Majors yet, the 26-year-old is regarded as one of the top prospects in baseball and is ready to prove he can swing it at the highest level.

Busch was stuck behind future Hall of Famer Freddie Freeman with the Los Angeles Dodgers, making it highly unlikely that he'd ever see the field consistently. It was the harsh reality of his situation and one that many players face at times.

He now has his opportunity in Chicago and is looking to make the most of it.

When traded to the Cubs, Freeman gave Dansby Swanson a report of how Busch was as a person, according to Patrick Mooney of The Athletic.

"Freddie always gives me the personality scouting report," Swanson said. "He never gives me player scouting reports. He just said that (Busch) is awesome to have around, a good dude, all that kind of stuff."

The report wasn't a normal one as it wasn't one where Freeman told Swanson who Busch was as a player. Instead, he told him that he's a good locker room guy and someone the team will get along with.

It's a different feel around the locker room this season and in large part, that's due to the culture the front office has built.

Busch happens to be the latest example of that.
