Dodgers' Cody Bellinger taking advantage of 'once in a lifetime' opportunity

The 2020 Major League Baseball season will be anything but normal, and while some players have opted out, Cody Bellinger is looking forward to the campaign. 

The Dodgers star is ready to pick up where he left off last season, and he's hoping to bring a title back to Los Angeles. 

“Everything is going to be so weird this year. It’s going to be fun,” Bellinger said Thursday on a video conference call, according to the Associated Press. “It could be a once-in-a-lifetime thing, so I’m just taking advantage of what we got.”

Los Angeles has some of the best odds to win the World Series this year, and the sky's the limit with Mookie Betts, who was acquired in a trade with the Red Sox, on the roster. 

The Dodgers boast one of the most potent batting orders in all of baseball. They hit 279 home runs last season, which led the National League.

The Dodgers' current starting rotation includes Clayton Kershaw, Walker Buehler, Julio Urias and Alex Wood. Their bats, though, may be even more dangerous with Betts, Cody Bellinger, Gavin Lux, Max Muncy, Justin Turner, Corey Seager, Joc Pederson and A.J. Pollock.

Bellinger, specifically, averaged .305 at the plate with 47 home runs and 115 RBI en route to being named the NL MVP. He's more than likely not going to blast 47 home runs in a shortened 60-game season this year, but he's still ready to contribute to a Dodgers team who has been robbed of a World Series title twice in the last four years.
