Do The Brewers “Gott” a New Star Bullpen Pitcher?

This season, pitching has been a strength for the Brewers. Over the years, they have shown the ability to develop young pitchers and have found a knack in helping players brought in reach new potentials. This year, Trevor Gott may be the person who emerges as the next star in the bullpen.

Is it too soon to say that he is the next star in the bullpen? Probably, but a team can never have too many strong pitchers, especially when your offense is as streaky as the Brewers has been. Having reliable pitching arms is a blessing and to begin this season Gott has given us a lot to excited about.

The early season stats show that Trevor Gott is pitching extremely well.

So far, Gott has pitched 5.2 innings across five games. In that time, he’s given up four hits and no earned runs. Out of 22 batters faced, he’s struck out eight and has not walked a batter. He really shined against the Cardinals , pitching two scoreless relief innings to preserve Brandon Woodruff’s strong start.

Gott did add to the Brewers’ bench-clearing stand-off with the Cubs. He contributed one of three Cubs batters hit by a Brewers pitcher that game when he hit Ian Happ in the seventh inning. To be honest, that might have solidified his role more than any stat line could. If not that, then perhaps his flowing locks similar to teammates Corbin Burnes and Josh Hader.

In summary, it might be a little too soon to say that Trevor Gott is the latest and greatest to join the ranks of the Brewers bullpen. However, he’s showing a lot of promise and is really exciting to watch.
