Diamondbacks extend win streak to six in a row
Joe Camporeale-USA TODAY Sports

The Arizona Diamondbacks, once possessing the worst post-All-Star break record in the MLB, have turned the tide with six consecutive wins as they took down the Reds tonight with a final score of 10-8.

However, unlike many of their recent wins, tonight’s victory was orchestrated by the offense.

Following the Reds taking the lead with a Nick Martini solo home run in the 2nd inning, the Diamondbacks erupted for five runs in the bottom of the fourth.

This extended inning comprised of a double, a couple of base hits, a Jace Peterson triple, and a whopping four walks.

Then it was the Reds turn to strike back.

As Brandon Pfaadt departed the mound in the midst of the 6th inning, the Reds seized the moment against Bryce Jarvis.

Once again, Nick Martini sent the ball over the fences, this time driving in three runs to narrow the gap to 5-4.

But the Diamondbacks were not done either.

They answered with a run in the 6th, followed by two more in the 7th and an additional pair in the 8th to establish a more comfortable lead.

Interestingly, it was the lower end of the lineup that spearheaded this potent offense. Alek Thomas, Gabriel Moreno, and Jace Peterson (batting 6th, 7th, and 8th, respectively) combined for a 6-for-13 performance and contributed to seven of the Diamondbacks’ 10 runs.

Jace Peterson even had his first two-triple game of his career.

Although the Reds injected some excitement with a grand slam in the top of the ninth, their efforts proved insufficient.

While tonight’s victory might not have been picture-perfect, it underscored that the Diamondbacks’ offense still possesses the potency to propel their team into the playoffs, even in the face of pitching challenges.

The Diamondbacks will look to make it seven in a row tomorrow at 5:10 PM. Zach Davies is scheduled to get his first start since July 18th.
