Dansby Swanson Day-to-Day with Wrist Injury
Darren Yamashita-USA TODAY Sports

The Chicago Cubs are hot right now. They have won nine of their last 11 games entering Wednesday's action. However, there was a slight scare following the 4-0 win regarding star shortstop Dansby Swanson. Swanson underwent X-rays on his wrist that was reportedly swollen after the game. According to Taylor McGregor, the X-rays came back negative.

Swanson might not have the craziest offensive numbers this season, but he is the undisputed veteran presence that is guiding the Cubs. His Gold Glove at short and veteran leadership are both paying dividends and justifying his mega contract he signed this past winter.

In 72 games this season, Swanson is slashing .263/.351/.399 with seven home runs and 31 RBI. That said, it appears Swanson is heating up with the rest of the lineup. In his last seven games, Swanson is slashing .321/.387/.429 with one home run and four RBI.

Ideally, Swanson's absence from Wednesday's lineup will be more than enough to allow his wrist to heal before Saturday's opening game in London. If Swanson only misses one game, then the Cubs get their best-case scenario with his health. Although it is worth monitoring, it appears the injury might not be that severe.
