Colorado Rockies Provide Bad Health Updates On a Pair of Pitchers
USA TODAY Sports

The Colorado Rockies , already mired in last place in the National League West, have announced negative updates on both Kyle Freeland and Antonio Senzatela.

Freeland, the club's Opening Day starter, is headed to the injured list while Senzatela is going to undergo Tommy John surgery.

For Freeland, he's got a subluxation in his non-throwing shoulder.

The 30-year-old Colorado native has been putting together a nice season for the Rockies. Though he's 4-10, he's got a 4.72 ERA and has been on the receiving end of some tough losses. In his most recent start, he went 6.1 innings and allowed just one run and still took the loss in a 1-0 defeat.

As for Senzatela, this will end up being a mostly lost season. He only threw 7.2 innings this year after a late start. He was recovering from ACL surgery, and now he'll miss the rest of this year and most or all of next year.

For his career, he's 39-43 in 145 career games. He's got a lifetime 4.87 ERA. He debuted in 2017 and has spent his entire career in Colorado. He's won double-digit games twice in his career (10 in 2017 and 11 in 2019).

He's not the only Rockies pitcher to undergo Tommy John this season either: German Marquez underwent the procedure earlier.

The Rockies are currently 34-57 and own the lowest winning percentage in the entire National League.

They'll open up the second half of the season by taking on the New York Yankees on Friday night.
