Brewers' veteran starting pitcher scheduled to begin rehab assignment

The Milwaukee Brewers brought in 12-year veteran starting pitcher Julio Teheran prior to Memorial Day. He immediately provided six consecutive quality starts before faltering at the end of June and having a rough month in July.

Over the last four weeks he has been on the IL with hip impingement, but now is scheduled to begin a minor league injury rehab assignment.

The Wisconsin Timber Rattlers announced that Teheran is scheduled to start their game on Friday, Aug. 25. This is a home game for them and the first pitch is scheduled for 6:40 p.m. CT.

A minor league rehab assignment at this time will allow Julio Teheran to build his arm back up and set himself up for a possible September call-up.

Rosters will expand by two players during that month and Milwaukee has a stretch of 17 consecutive games in the middle of September. It’s possible that the Brewers go to a six-man rotation around that time with Teheran being the extra starting rotation member.
