Braves Briefing: Will Atlanta move on from Jesse Chavez?
USA TODAY Sports

The Atlanta Braves are in a spot where they shouldn't have to make many changes this offseason to remain competitive, but they will potentially have a different-looking bullpen in 2024.

Jessee Chavez is among several bullpen players who is an unrestricted free agent this offseason. Chavez was not a part of the NLDS roster due to injury and overall production during the final stint of the season. He appeared in 36 games this season early this year before a fractured shin kept him out for most of the back half of the season.

Other outlets, like Fansided, have speculated that Chavez may not be a member of the Atlanta Braves moving forward.

In 2023, Chavez earned a 1.56 ERA, 39 strikeouts and 12 walks across 34.2 innings pitched.

We wrote it

Our own Lindsay Crosby wrote about all of the positions that Atlanta needs to upgrade this offseason. He touched on the need for a left fielder.

The Atlanta Braves used five different left fielders in 2023, with Eddie Rosario (127 games) and Kevin Pillar (41G) accounting for the majority of those starts.
(If you were curious, Marcell Ozuna started out there twice in the first three games of the season, with Sam Hilliard getting four early-season starts and Forrest Wall getting three late-season starts).
The cumulative slash line for the left fielders was .254/.297/.460, with 28 homers, 97 RBIs, and six stolen bases. Braves left fielders graded out to a .984 fielding percentage, with four of the five errors being charged to Rosario, and logging four outfield assists, also all belonging to Rosario.
