A postseason hero is staying inside the NL East

That 2021 NLCS performance by Rosario will go down in baseball history forever. It very might have been the single greatest run in the history of the Championship Series, as he recorded 14 hits (an NLCS record) and three homers over just six games on the way to the World Series.

The famous “Eddie” chant stuck for the remainder of his tenure with the Braves, but he never could recapture the same magic he produced in his first season with Atlanta. After signing a two-year, $18 million contract with the Braves ahead of the 2022 season, he played in just 80 games due to vision issues. Rosario would return in 2023 and have a much better season, smashing 21 homers with a .755 OPS, but it wasn’t enough for the Braves to pick up his $9 million option this offseason.

A decision that looks to be another correct one by Alex Anthopoulos, as Rosario settled for a $4 million contract with the Nationals. That’s a much more palatable figure for his production over the last two seasons, and I like this move a lot for Washington, who is starting to put together a sneaky good roster loaded with young talent.

Even on a division rival, you’ll be hard-pressed to find a member of Braves Country that won’t be on their feet when Eddie Rosario returns to Truist Park. He’ll be remembered in Atlanta forever, and I imagine that tribute video of him breaking the will of the 2021 Dodgers will send chills down the spine of every Braves fan in the building.
