Who could win the AT&T Byron Nelson other than Scottie Scheffler?

Sure, you could go ahead and put your money on Scottie Scheffler ahead of the AT&T Byron Nelson, which tees off Thursday at TPC Craig Ranch. The Texas native is the favorite after all ahead of the tournament, listed at 7-2 at BetMGM

But there is a field sprinkled with talent about to hit the links in McKinney other than Scheffler who are primed to top the leaderboard this weekend. And the experts are pumping up a few other competitors ahead of the weekend festivities.

There is plenty of talk about Tyrrell Hatton, and rightfully so. The Englishman, who is listed behind Scheffler at 12-1 odds, is in search of his first win on the 2023 season but is generating plenty of buzz following his T3 finish at the Wells Fargo Championship last weekend.

Hatton has four top-10 finishes this season, and with Jordan Spieth sidelined with a wrist injury he is the clear frontrunner to challenge Scheffler in his home state.

Hatton isn't the only one generating buzz, as Tom Kim threatens to top the leaderboard for the second time this season. SportsLine betting expert Sia Nejad notes the 20-year-old standout is rounding back into form after having some putting issues through the first part of the year, and "it wouldn't surprise me if he steals a win with a spike putter" this weekend.

Not bad for a guy listed at 14-1 at BetMGM ahead of the tournament.

And then there's K.H. Lee, who is a 22-1 long shot heading into the tournament in the Lone Star State. Lee has won the AT&T Byron Nelson back-to-back years and is aiming for the rare three-peat this weekend.

With three top-10 finishes and three missed cuts on a rather humdrum season, it isn't surprising oddsmakers are favoring opponents like Jason Day and Hideki Matsuyama over Lee. But the 31-year-old still has a chance at topping the leaderboard at a course he is clearly comfortable competing at.

The AT&T Byron Nelson tees off on Thursday starting at 7:50 a.m. ET.
