These former Masters winners are long shots to win at Augusta in 2023

It isn't unheard of for a golfer to win a major tournament multiple times over his career, and the Masters is no exception to that rule. But when it comes to the 2023 festivities set to take over Augusta National in April, some of those repeat winners — Tiger and Phil, anyone? — are actually long shots to wear the green jacket again.

As Yardbarker pointed out in December, world No. 1 Rory McIlroy is the 9-1 favorite to win the Masters for the first time. Meanwhile, defending champion and world No. 2 Scottie Scheffler sits at 12-1 at DraftKings . The odds only get more interesting from there, as 2021 Masters winner Hideki Matsuyama is currently listed as a 35-1 long shot. Previous winner Dustin Johnson — now with LIV Golf — is listed at 16-1, while 2018 winner Patrick Reed is a 50-1 long shot.

Sportsbooks are even less kind to a few active repeat Masters winners. Phil Mickelson has donned three green jackets over the course of his career, but Lefty is not a big favorite to repeat that success. Mickelson — who made more headlines last year for running his mouth than for playing golf — is currently a 130-1 long shot according to DraftKings.

Of course, one of the most astounding Masters wins in recent history was Tiger Woods, who won his fifth Masters in 2019 in incredible fashion to become just the second golfer in history to win the event that many times.

Woods' 2023 schedule still remains up in the air, so there are no odds listed for him at the moment. But you can bet that the second he says he is playing that will all change.

The 2023 Masters tees off on April 6.
