The golfers who have the most style

There are some golf fans who spend just as much time watching the sport to see what these athletes wear on the course as they do following their actual performances. Fashion has always been a big part of the game.

From knickers to short skirts to all types of headwear, golf fashion has evolved as much as the game itself, perhaps even more. There are plenty of golfers who try to look good, but not many can consistently pull it off.

Here's a look some current stars of the game who wear it well on the course.

Cameron Champ

We don't know too much about Champ's style, considering he's relatively new to the PGA Tour. But we know he was plenty of class and pride. The son of biracial parents, Champ sported one black shoe and one white during the Friday round of last week's Phoenix Open to celebrate the beginning of Black History Month. Not bad for a 23-year-old.

Paula Creamer

She's arguably the most fashionable member of the LPGA Tour. While Creamer is trying to work her way back to prominence on the course, the 2010 U.S. Open winner remains one of the elite in terms of style. Known as "The Pink Panther" because of her fancy for the color on the course, Creamer has the look of both comfort and class on the links.

John Daly

Daly's look is hardly for everybody, but nobody can argue that his busy pants and shirts keep him among the most popular golfers on the planet. He's still the every-man's golfer, and his look exemplifies that, even if we need sunglasses to help adjust to the brightness of his pants, shirts and even shoes.

Bryson DeChambeau

There are plenty of unique traits about DeChambeau, so why shouldn't fashion be one of them? According to a Golf Digest article in November 2018, he started wearing his old-school cap at age 13 and has opted to stick with the look. It's become his trademark and one he wears just as well as he plays golf.

Luke Donald

The Englishman, who is also the most famous golfer to come out of Northwestern University, always seems to be looking dapper no matter the weather conditions. While Donald's visor is his trademark, he does a nice job pulling off a long-sleeve sweater during those chilly rounds and would fit right in at a nice sit-down dinner following the round.

Tony Finau

Finau isn't afraid to take chances with his look on the course, and that should be a good thing. He elevated his game in 2018, which included a spell at the Valspar Championship in March when he played with a hoodie. That still couldn't top August 2017 at The Northern Trust when Finau wore a pair of Kobe Bryant-inspired golf shoes.

Rickie Fowler

Rickie Fowler

Fowler is one of golf's most popular figures, not just because he's really good but also because he has a trendy and contemporary fashion sense. He helped make Puma a major player in the golf apparel business. Fowler likes bright, loud colors — even on his belt. He's also made the flat-billed hat a favorite among the younger generation of golfers and fans.

Sandra Gal

Some believe Gal's fashionable — yet somewhat risque for golf purists — on-course attire was one of the inspirations for the LPGA's new dress code that was instituted in 2017. The 6-foot German is one of the Tour's most popular golfers with fans, and while her wardrobe might push the boundaries of golf appropriateness at times, it's not enough to warrant change.

Sergio Garcia

From the moment a young Sergio was seen sprinting and leaping down the fairway in his Adidas shirt at the 1999 PGA Championship, he and the popular sports apparel giant have enjoyed a lasting relationship. Garcia will often take hits for his color combinations during rounds, but at age 39 he still wears it better than most.

Brian Gay

Gay has not won an event since 2013, and injuries have played a part, but he's usually in contention each start when it comes to his look. It sometimes seems Gay is wearing a uniform, albeit a sharp one, on the course. From his custom-made shirts and pants down to the shoes one could wear for a night of swing dancing, Gay continues to shine.

Billy Horschel

Many consider the five-time PGA Tour winner to be the world's best-dressed golfer. Not sure there's an official ranking for that, but Horschel always has a plan when it comes to his on-course wardrobe. From the pants and shirt, down to the belt, Horschel rarely misses when executing his look.

Christina Kim

If you don't crack a smile watching Kim play, then something is wrong. She's one of the LPGA's most popular players for her animated demeanor, friendliness toward galleries and, of course, her fashion sense. Whether it be the backward Kangol cap or her flying pigtails, Kim is hard to miss and easy to cheer on.

Lydia Ko

It's hard to believe Ko will be only 22 come April. As her game and personality have matured, so too has her fashion sense and overall on-course look. She's lightened her hair, added more muscle and tone to her frame and more color to her golf attire. Now the two-time major winner is hoping to return to her dominating days as a teenage LPGA phenom.

Jessica Korda

Korda always seems happy on the course, maybe because she's one of the game's best American golfers and is comfortable in her playing wardrobe. Whether she's going classic or sporting skirts that look like old-timey basketball shorts, Korda's versatile approach to fashion on the course is just as exciting as her game.

Minjee Lee

The Australian-born Lee is considered one of golf's best-dressed on and off the course. She can make even a simple black-and-white scheme look stylish. Often seen wearing long sleeves under her collared top and always coordinated, Lee looks like she's truly having fun on the course and grateful to be where she is.

Phil Mickelson

When it comes to classic yet contemporary golf fashion, Mickelson hovers near the top of the list. He rarely takes chances, but his look is never boring. Known for his safe but stylish footwear, Lefty relates to golfers from any walk of life or caliber. He's even able to pull off the Johnny Cash, "Man-in-Black" look pretty well.

Jesper Parnevik

The flipped-up brim has been Parnevik's trademark for years, but the truth is that he's among the elite in the golf world when it comes to overall style. His form-fitting look is very European, and Parnevik pulls it off without a hitch. Though some have dubbed his attire "eccentric," at age 53, Parnevik is still looking good.

Sam Ryder

From his faux camouflage shirts to the anklet black socks, Ryder burst onto golf's fashion scene in 2018. While many believe Ryder has the ability to make a name for himself because of his play on the PGA Tour this season, golf fans could be in for a treat to see what he'll wear if in contention on Sundays.

Adam Scott

Another who has garnered the distinction of being the world's best-dressed golfer. Of course, it's all a matter of opinion, but golf fans should agree that Scott's clean, solid fashion approach is special. Not many golfers can pull off white pants, but it's become almost second nature for Scott, who also happens to be among the best golfers in the world.

Cameron Smith

Like Rickie Fowler, and others, Australia's Smith is a fan of those flat-billed hats. Smith can also get a little creative with his shirts. He often favors patterns but does a nice job of complementing them with his pants on a given round. He's posted two top-five finishes at majors since 2015, so he also has the game to back it up.

Henrik Stenson

Perhaps no other golfer wears his on-course apparel better than Stenson. He's one of the elite when it comes to form-fitting comfort. There is nothing really flashy about Stenson's overall look — the Swede just looks good on the golf course no matter what he's wearing in any kind of weather.

Justin Thomas

While some feel Thomas needs to be more outgoing and perhaps less uptight on the course, he's shown his extroverted side when it comes to golf fashion — none more so than at the 2017 Open Championship when he sported a tie and cardigan sweater for the opening round.

Lexi Thompson

Thompson's biggest fashion strength might be her ability to coordinate color schemes. Her look can be bright and loud but never overbearing to the eye. It's something all golfers — male or female — aim to do, but not all can pull it off on a consistent basis. She's currently America's best female golfer and best dressed.

Michelle Wie

Like Sandra Gal or Lexi Thompson, Wie never seems to shy away from pushing the limit with her on-course attire — in a good way, of course. As Wie has matured into a tenacious competitor, her tournament look has stepped up as well. She's not afraid to take chances but always seems comfortable and confident with every swing, chip or putt.

Tiger Woods

Woods has done for Nike in terms of golf apparel what Michael Jordan did for the brand in basketball...though, still not to the same level as Air Jordan. The traditional red shirt on Sunday when in the hunt has become Tiger's trademark. Thanks to his 2018 resurgence, we could be seeing red a lot this season.
