RBC Heritage betting preview

Last week we saw world No. 1 Scottie Scheffler win the Masters. With that big win, he has decided to skip the RBC Heritage. That gives the rest of the field a big chance as he has been the hottest player on the Tour this season, even before the Masters victory.

We are still getting a pretty good field for this event in South Carolina though, headlined by Justin Thomas and Collin Morikawa. Last year, Stewart Cink won this even and he was priced at 125-to-1, so a week after we saw chalk at the Masters, maybe we are due for another sleeper winner at the Heritage

When you look at the odds you see that this field is pretty wide open. We see nobody under +1000 with five players between +1300 and +1800. The odds are not usually distributed like that.

Bets to Consider

Maverick McNeely +5000

He has not played since the Valero so maybe a "fresh" golfer is just what we need to make some money after the Masters. He has played well on this course before, finishing fourth just last year.

Chris Kirk Top Ten +500

Sometimes all that we remember is who won. Kirk overcame a poor first round but after that was one of the best players at last year's event. He finished in the top 10. He is in pretty good form right now too. He has two top 10s among eight events in 2022.

Matt Fitzpatrick Top Ten +200

He is not a bad pick to win it all because he is in good form. He has five top 10s in the last couple of months alone and played well at the Masters last weekend. He is not a household name just yet, but a win in the shadows of a major might help with that.

Webb Simpson Top 20 +190

This one is all about the course because Simpson has not been in great form this season. He has won here once before and made the cut 11 out of 12 times. With some big names taking the week off it gets a little easier to slide up the leaderboard.

Cameron Smith First-Round Leader +6000

For a little while last week, it looked like Smith might get himself a green jacket. He is one of the favorites this week, and I like him to rally and not let the disappointment from last week linger too long. Plus, a bet like this gives you a reason to really hone in on Thursday.
