It is finally Masters week!

The nine-month major wait is over, and the most-anticipated golf event of the year is finally here.

With the Masters, there is always a key factor that can play a role in the tournament, and her name is Mother Nature. Mother Nature has not been too kind to Augusta National over the last few years during the Masters. The 2024 edition is expected to have better but not perfect weather.

The Masters could get off to a slow start with thunderstorms in the forecast on Thursday.

Thursday Forecast

There is currently a 95% chance of precipitation in Augusta, Georgia on Thursday. The thunderstorms are expected to roll in on Thursday morning, according to weather.com. There will be variable clouds in the afternoon with a smaller chance of rain.

The high on Thursday is expected to be 77 degrees, and humidity is forecasted at 79%. The winds will be an important variable on the golf course on Thursday. Winds are expected to be between 15 and 25 miles per hour (mph). The winds are expected to die down as the sun goes down with winds between 10 and 20 mph.

That could imply that morning tee times could have a more difficult time on the golf course than afternoon tee times. If play is delayed, that would make a wave advantage more murky but still possible. The soft conditions would likely also benefit longer hitters off the tee.

Rest of the Week Outlook

The weather will continue to get better and better as the tournament wraps up on Sunday. Friday will see highs in the low 70s with winds between 15 and 25 mph along with a 5 percent chance of precipitation.

Saturday will be even more ideal with highs in the high 70s and virtually no chance of rain. Winds will simmer down to 5-10 mph.

Sunday will be the best weather of the week. Highs will rise to the mid 80s with wind in the 5-10 mph range.
