UCLA Loses Out On No. 1 2024 Hoops Recruit To Rival Blue Blood School
USA TODAY Sports

After a long recruitment period, UCLA has missed out on the top player in the class of 2024.

Monday morning, five-star recruit Cooper Flagg announced his committment to Duke.

Flagg chose Duke over UConn which was believed to be his second choice school.

UCLA extended a scholarship to Flagg but never had a real chance of getting the Maine-resident to come to the West Coast.

Flagg was recruited by 16 schools. UCLA was the only school west of Lawrence, Kansas to extend an offer.

Over the summer, Flagg showed why he is the top prospect in the 2024 class with his play for his AAU team Maine United.

He averaged 26.8points, 12.4 rebounds, 5.2 blocks and 4.7 assists, shooting 37% for 3 during the Nike EYBL tournament.

Flagg is projected to be the number one pick in the 2025 NBA draft.

Duke now has the number one recrtuing class for the 2024 class. Flagg will now join Kon Knueppel as five stars to committ to Duke.

They will be joined by four-stars Darren Harris and Isaiah Evans.

When Flagg arrives on campus, Duke will have a lot of eyes on them with all of their star power.

Unfortunatley for UCLA, the Bruins will have to keep searching to make its 2024 class stronger.

UCLA has the 72nd ranked recruiting class and only has one committment from three-star Eric Freeny.

Luckily for the Bruins, there is still plently of uncommitted recruits that can join the team.
