NASCAR Hall of Famer Mark Martin isn’t just a racer. He’s also a fan and aficionado of all things rap and hip hop. Don’t believe me? His favorite artist is, and has been for years, Gucci Mane.

Amid the insanely entertaining and very personal rap beef between Drake and Kendrick Lamar. The verbal battle has brought up insanely personal stories and accusations that fans have poured over for the last few days, analyzing every word.

Mark Martin understands how competitive hip hop can be. He definitely knows how competitive NASCAR can be. There’s been a few times when rap and NASCAR rivalries have gone beyond words and into physical altercations.

Martin compared the Kendrick and Drake beef to the rivalry between Denny Hamlin and Kyle Larson. Check out the video below.

You can’t convince me that Mark Martin isn’t the coolest 65-year-old out there. He loves Gucci Mane, loves rap beef, and is one of the most badass racecar drivers ever. I think he appreciates Drake wearing his Viagra jacket, but like most sane people know – Kendrick is winning this beef right now.

Speaking of beef, do we have any in NASCAR right now? Rivalries are the lifeblood of the sport. Dale Earnhardt had many rivalries on the track, including with Mark Martin, as the latter tried in vain to win a championship.

Last year at Kansas, let’s not forget, Ross Chastain popped Noah Gragson in the mouth. Things can get real, real fast on pit road.

Mark Martin deserves a namedrop in a rap song

After showing so much love for rap and the culture of the music, I think Mark Martin deserves to have a namedrop in a song. In fact, he deserves to be in a Gucci Mane music video if you ask me.

These kinds of stories are fun and really shine a light on the personality of these drivers. You just don’t get characters like Martin in racing as much anymore. Ever since he talked about how big of a Gucci fan he was, fans have been making videos and memes about it, all in good fun.

During his career, Martin won a lot of races. He finished second overall in the championship standings on five occasions. Just one of those drivers who wasn’t mean to win it all. That happens in sports all of the time.

What do you think about what Mark Martin said about hip hop and NASCAR? They are both very competitive disciplines in their own right.
