Golden Knights head coach Peter DeBoer has seen enough embellishment. After watching his team go down 0-2 to the favored Avalanche he couldn’t hold back any longer.

Peter DeBoer calls out Avalanche players

“Just a soft call. But I can’t even blame the refs,” DeBoer said in his post game presser. “They’re fighting through the embellishment of grabbing your face or falling down or dropping your stick every period. I can’t even blame the ref. They fool them on it.”

Of all the teams in the second round, the Avalanche lead with 3.83 power play opportunities per game. What makes that number hard for the opposition to swallow is that the Avs are averaging 1.67 power play goals per game. Colorado’s PP is operating at a staggering 43.5% which is tops in the Playoffs.

Does DeBoer have a point? Judge for yourself. The bigger question for the series is if his comments will have any impact on the referees.
