Junfu Han / USA TODAY NETWORK

Isaiah Buggs has his hand fitted for another ring, and this one represents the pinnacle of the National Football League.

After spending two regular seasons (2022-23) with the Detroit Lions, Buggs was released on Jan. 2, 2024.

He signed to the Kansas City Chiefs’ practice squad two days later. The Louisiana native helped the Chiefs make a run in the AFC playoffs to advance to Super Bowl LVIII in Las Vegas, Nev. Buggs joined a list of University of Alabama alums to capture a Super Bowl Championship. Kansas City earned a 25-22 overtime victory in Sunday’s matchup to be champions of the NFL for a third time in five years. Buggs shared a photo to his social media of him holding the Vince Lombardi Trophy with absolute joy.

A former junior college transfer, he was a defensive end for the Crimson Tide from 2017 to 2018. Buggs helped the Tide to a College Football Playoff National Championship in 2017 and a Southeastern Conference Championship in 2018.

He joins Terrence Cody, James Carpenter, Dont’a Hightower, Courtney Upshaw, Chance Warmack, Jesse Williams, Michael Williams, Reggie Ragland, A’Shawn Robinson, Cyrus Jones, O.J. Howard, Terrell Lewis, DeAndrew White, and Gehrig Dieter to capture a Super Bowl ring as a former Alabama player.
