Cardinals re-sign Tony Jones Jr. to practice squad
Jeff Hanisch-USA TODAY Sports

Being officially waived by the Arizona Cardinals yesterday, running back Tony Jones Jr. re-signed and will go to the practice squad, according to multiple sources.

On Oct. 9, the Cardinals claimed Jones Jr. off of waivers from the New Orleans Saints.

As a precaution, Arizona picked up Jones Jr. because of the unavailability of running backs James Conner and Keaontay Ingram who both were dealing with injuries.

Quickly, before the news on the extent of Conner’s injury, information about Jones Jr. went public.

Playing in 22 career NFL games, Jones Jr. has ran for 288 yards on 39 tries since 2020.

Moreover, Jones Jr. has split time between the Saints, Seattle Seahawks and Denver Broncos before he landed in Arizona.

With Ingram back healthy, Jones Jr. was initially released by the Cardinals yesterday without playing a snap.

After clearing waivers, Jones will now be on the practice squad.

In a minor move today, quarterback Jeff Driskel has been released by the Cardinals from the practice squad.
